Haifa will host its 26th<\/sup> International Film Festival, featuring a range of excellent prize-winning movies from around the world, live music events, outdoor film screenings and outdoor fairs for the general public.\u00a0Tamara Drewe<\/em>, a film by Stephen Frears, who also made\u00a0My Beautiful Laundrette<\/em> and\u00a0The Queen<\/em>, will open the festival. The film tells the entertaining, scandal-filled tale of Tamara Drewe, which takes place in the heart of rural England.<\/span><\/p>\n

The festival will host 300 guests from the local and international film industry, who will meet Israeli audiences at receptions and discussions on films. The festival will hold three competitions: The Golden Anchor, for Mediterranean film; the International Competition, for premieres; and the best Israeli full-length, short, documentary films or television dramas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ticket price: NIS 40 (discounts for university students, IDF soldiers, senior citizens and guest staying at Haifa hotels)<\/span><\/p>\n

Tickets may be purchased at box offices as of Sunday, September 19, 2010, the day after Yom Kippur<\/span><\/p>\n
